Glenn Black's Personal Testimony

I was born in 1951 at the Methodist Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I was born again as a child of God in 1964 at a Pilgrim Holiness Church in Akron, Ohio.

My father was pastoring a Friends (Quaker) church at the time of my birth but later became an ordained minister in the Pilgrim Holiness Church. I received a call to the ministry at the age of 17 when I was a senior in high school. My father encouraged me to serve as a pastor and minister in The Wesleyan Church. I followed his advice and have never regretted doing so. I preached my first sermon at the age of 17 at the Lighthouse Mission in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. I began my pastoral ministry at the age of 21 in 1972 in Miamisburg, Ohio in the Western Ohio District.

I stand amazed at how God rescued me as an aimless and stuttering preacher’s kid and is still transforming me into His likeness. To serve Him as His child is wonderful and to declare the good news of full salvation for a sinful human race is a humbling honor and eternal joy.

I thank God for His prevenient, saving, sanctifying, sustaining and glorifying grace. All that thrills my soul is Jesus! I love Him with all my heart, soul, mind and strength.

My passionate desire is to serve God, worship Him, preach and write about His limitless love, great grace and measureless mercies, and to extend His love to others. Someday, along millions of others, I hope to crown Him King of kings and Lord of lords!

In 1970 Sharon and I were married. She has been my true friend, faithful supporter and constant encourager. We have three children and three grandchildren. I am truly blessed.

Soli Deo Gloria!

Glenn D. Black
